→ Hello Max, what’s your position/role at DataThings?

Max: I’m a Web Developper, I basically change the color of buttons on a webpage. Most of my work is spent on the Front End, evertyhing the user interacts with, depending on the project I also do some Back End work.

→ In a few words, tell us for what kind of clients and what kinds of projects do you work?

Max: I have been dedicating most of my time on AIXpert, wich is a platform for predicting, classifying Models and pattern detection in time serieses. I also help a bit out with Alva the datagrid management tool for Creos. Those two projects represent 90% of what I have been doing until now.

→ Which technologies/programming languages do you use on a daily basis?

Max: For the FrontEnd it’s Typescript and React , for the BackEnd it’s DataThings own language GreyCat . Since we work a lot with Data and information visualization, I use d3 quiet often, it’s a javascript library to visualize big datasets on a webpage in form of Charts.

→ What is the best aspect of your job?

Max: Being able to work on multiple divers projects. The open Colaboration and horizontal hierarchy i enjoy a lot. Of course probably the best part is the problem solving aspect of the job.

→ Are you more formal or relaxed at the work?

Max: As relaxed as I can be, sneakers, jeans, a hoodie and I'm good.

→ What professional experience has shaped you the most?

Max: I’ve benn working in programming for a bit over 2 years, I’m a bit too green to have an answer for this.

→ Home office or on-site?

Max: I like a healthy mix of both 1,2 days at home 3 at office is a nice balance i find.

→ Let’s switch with a lighter questions: "francesinha" or "Bifana"?

Max: The francesinha is porbably the best dish of all time, specifically from Braga, If you ever decide to visit Portugal and find yourself in the city of Braga go to either the "Taverna Real" or "Taverna Belga". Come with an empty stomach, it's pretty filling.

→ Sea or mountains?

Max: Why not both at the same time.

→ At the office's table soccer, do you rather play with “attackers” or “defenders”? Are you more into "mean diagonal attacks" or more a "brute force" guy?

Max: Since I’m not very good i just send it.

→ How do you come to work on a daily basis?

Max: It depends since i live not far away I can come by foot which is a nice 25 min walk , but when it’s heavy raining or I have some chores to take care of or place to be in the morning or after work I come by car.

→ Do you have any hobbies?

Max: For the past 2 years I have being going all in on programing, working on various side projects that I never finish of course and trying out the newest frameworks and languages. I’m trying Golang right now.

→ What attracted you to DataThings?

Max: The fact that it’s a small company, and the founders seemed very cool. Their FrontEnd stack was also very intersting, since I have always wanted to work with React and Typescript since it’s the markets standard FrontEnd stack, I enjoy new chalenges and not being stagnant, it looked like a very chalegning and intersting opportunity.
